Sean Henricksen’s DWI Case Was Dismissed, but the Arrest Followed Him—So He Became the Lawyer He Had Needed

A dismissal should feel like the end of a criminal case. For Sean Henricksen, it was not.

Before becoming an attorney, Henricksen was arrested for DWI. He remembers the embarrassment, confusion, and uncertainty that followed. The lawyer he hired successfully obtained a dismissal, but Henricksen was never told that he might be able to remove the arrest from his record. During later job interviews and school applications, he repeatedly had to explain an accusation that had never resulted in a conviction. The prosecution was over; its effects were not.

That experience gave Henricksen a clear idea of the lawyer he wanted to become. In 2014, he founded Sean Henricksen Law Firm and built it as a solo-attorney criminal-defense practice. Because he remains the firm’s sole lawyer, clients are not simply hiring his name while their cases are directed by someone else. Henricksen personally guides the legal strategy while helping clients understand what comes next, what is at risk, and how the case could affect life outside the courtroom.

That approach is especially important in family-violence cases, which now form one of the strongest concentrations of his practice. An arrest can threaten a person’s family relationships, employment, firearm rights, and future long before guilt is established. Henricksen’s firm has obtained dismissals in more than 85% of its misdemeanor family-violence cases, demonstrating a record focused on preventing those consequences from becoming permanent.

His most consequential courtroom result involved allegations far more serious than a misdemeanor. Henricksen represented a client charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child—accusations carrying a potential life sentence and lifetime sex-offender registration. He worked on the defense for more than two years, kept an untimely outcry statement away from the jury, and exposed an investigation in which critical witnesses had not been interviewed and the alleged scene had not been examined. After approximately eight hours of deliberation, the jury found the client not guilty of both charges.

Henricksen’s DWI work shows the same willingness to examine whether an arrest was legally justified. In one prosecution alleging a blood-alcohol concentration of .15 or higher, an officer claimed the client’s failure to maintain a single lane justified the traffic stop. Dash-camera footage showed no resulting safety risk. Henricksen challenged the stop, and the judge ruled that the officer lacked reasonable suspicion. Field-sobriety evidence, statements, and blood results were excluded, and prosecutors dismissed the case.

He has also represented a client whose speech and field-sobriety performance were mistaken for intoxication. Blood testing ultimately found no alcohol or drugs in the client’s system, and the DWI charge was dismissed. For Henricksen, that result carried a familiar lesson: an arrest is not proof, and a person’s future should not be defined by an officer’s first impression.

Professional recognition and public feedback reinforce his reputation as well. Henricksen was selected to the Texas Rising Stars list in 2023 and 2024 and was included among Scene in S.A.’s 2023 Best S.A. Lawyers for criminal defense. He also maintains a perfect 5.0-star Google rating based on 179 reviews. The volume of feedback makes that perfect score especially impressive and gives prospective clients a substantial public record of the firm’s service.

What separates Sean Henricksen is that he understands a criminal case from both sides of the attorney’s desk. He knows the fear of being arrested, the relief of dismissal, and the frustration of discovering that an arrest can continue following someone afterward. For a person facing a DWI, family-violence, assault, or other criminal accusation, that combination of personal understanding and demonstrated courtroom ability can be particularly valuable.

That combination of experience, reputation, verified professional standing, and public credibility is why Sean Michael Henricksen was included on FreddieFender.com.
