Coming October 1: The People-First Attorney Directory Built for You
Date Published

Finding an attorney online is easy. Finding the right attorney for you is where things get complicated.
When your health, freedom, family, livelihood or future may be at stake, choosing an attorney deserves more than a name, an advertisement or the first position in a search result.
A single Google search can return hundreds of names. What it rarely explains is why one attorney deserves your consideration over another. What has this attorney accomplished? Why do they stand out? Is their position based on merit—or on marketing and advertising budgets? And what should you ask before deciding whom to hire?
That is the problem we created FreddieFender.com to address.
Freddie Fender will launch October 1 in California, New York, Texas and Florida as America’s People-First Attorney Directory. Our new consumer-focused platform combines independent research, carefully selected attorneys, transparent profiles, fair search rotation and practical tools to help people make a more informed choice.
The idea is simple: finding the right attorney should not be a guessing game.
Built Around What Consumers Need
Our founder, Mark Karnes, spent approximately 20 years working alongside attorneys. He saw how difficult choosing legal representation can be, especially during life’s most stressful moments.
Consumers rarely search for an attorney when everything is going well. They search when the stakes are high—when they need immediate help and are likely under tremendous pressure.
Mark also saw how easily advertising, familiarity and big promises could influence such an important decision. His experience led to the question at the heart of Freddie Fender:
What if there were an attorney directory designed around what consumers need to make an informed choice—not simply another list of lawyers?
The result is a directory built around research, transparency, preparation and consumer control.
Search. Compare. Prepare. Hire.
We organize the Freddie Fender experience into four practical steps:
- Search for attorneys by location and legal need.
- Compare profiles, credentials, experience, results and other relevant information.
- Prepare with questions we provide to help guide your conversations with attorneys.
- Hire the attorney you believe is right for you.
You can use Freddie Fender completely free of charge—without creating an account or providing personal information. Each profile includes a call button so you can contact the attorney directly. If you hire an attorney, you owe us nothing; all we ask is that you tell the attorney you found them on FreddieFender.com.
Not Every Attorney Makes the List
We research attorneys before deciding whom to feature. We consider professional experience, credentials, licensing and public disciplinary history, demonstrated case results, public and peer feedback, reputation and other relevant indicators.
Attorneys must meet our standards to be listed. If an attorney does not qualify, they cannot pay to be added. No exceptions.
Qualified attorneys who choose to remain featured may eventually be required to pay a nominal participation fee. Payment will never replace our selection process or influence search placement.
That same principle shapes how we present search results.
Fair Rotation: Rethinking the Top Spot
One of our most distinctive innovations is Fair Rotation, a system our developers created to change how the most influential position on the page—the top spot—is assigned.
Search placement matters. Consumers naturally notice the first few names they see, giving those attorneys a powerful advantage. When the same attorney always appears first, that position can feel like a recommendation—even though appearing first does not mean the attorney is the best fit for the person searching.
Fair Rotation prevents any one qualified attorney from holding that advantage permanently.
When multiple attorneys match a consumer’s location and legal need, Fair Rotation randomizes the order in which they appear. This feature gives every user a different discovery experience instead of presenting one fixed hierarchy to everyone.
For attorneys, Fair Rotation provides a fair opportunity to be discovered. For consumers, it encourages comparison based on experience, credentials, achievements, results, reputation and fit—not a fixed position on the page.
Every attorney displayed has already met our standards, and no attorney can pay for the top position.
The Information You Need—in One Place
Normally, researching an attorney online means jumping between websites, reviews and licensing databases, trying to piece together information scattered across the net.
We bring that information together for you. With a few clicks, you can open a featured attorney’s profile and access key details in one place.
Profiles will include education, credentials, professional experience, practice focus, licensing information, noteworthy case results, Google ratings and review counts, public feedback, languages in which the firm can assist clients and other relevant information. You can also access State Bar information directly from the profile to independently review licensing and public disciplinary history.
At the center of each profile is Freddie’s Review, which answers a question a standard biography often does not: Why is this attorney here?
Our editorial team independently researches each featured attorney and highlights the background, results, accomplishments, reputation and distinguishing characteristics consumers should know. Freddie’s Review does not predict or guarantee an outcome. It explains why the attorney stood out and earned a place in the directory.
There is also a video feature called Meet the Attorney. When available, you can watch an attorney discuss their background and practice, helping you get a better sense of the person behind the résumé before making the first call.
Together, these features give you a fuller, verifiable picture of the attorney you may be considering. No scattered pieces. No unexplained listings.
Before You Hire, Know What to Ask
Once you have searched and compared, we help you prepare.
Choosing the right attorney is an important decision, and knowing what to ask can help you make it with confidence. Our Before You Hire feature gives you a prepared set of questions for every area of practice featured on the site. Simply select the area that matches your legal need to see the questions you should ask before hiring.
They help you understand an attorney’s experience, approach, fees, who will handle your matter and what to expect—supporting a more productive conversation and a clearer sense of whether the attorney is right for you.
Starting Where Consumers Need Help Most
We will launch with five core areas of law: Criminal Defense/DUI, Family Law/Divorce, Employment Law, Immigration Law and Personal Injury.
These areas often involve deeply personal, time-sensitive or life-changing circumstances. They are the starting point, not the finish line. We will expand into business law, entertainment law, civil rights, bankruptcy, estate planning and many other areas of practice over time.
Our nationwide rollout will happen in phases. Phase One will cover major markets throughout California, New York, Texas and Florida. Shortly thereafter, we will focus on the District of Columbia, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio and North Carolina. We are targeting coverage across all 50 states for the third quarter of 2027.
A More Useful Directory—Not a Longer One
There are already places to find thousands of attorneys. We are not trying to build the longest list. We are building a more useful one.
That means researched attorneys, transparent information and search placement that cannot be bought. Everything we have built—from explaining why an attorney stood out to providing the questions consumers should ask—serves one purpose: helping people approach an important decision with better information and greater confidence.
For our founder, Mark Karnes, that purpose was shaped by approximately two decades of working alongside attorneys and watching consumers struggle to separate qualifications from marketing and realistic expectations from promises. He believed there had to be a better way.
On October 1, that better way arrives.
Search. Compare. Prepare. Hire.
Because when your health, freedom, family, livelihood or future may be at stake, choosing an attorney deserves more than guesswork.
